I’ve been on an adventure…

I’ve been on an adventure…
My story isn’t new or somehow revolutionary.  As food lovers, food knowledge consumers, and all around cool cats, you might want to read on.
I wrote a note about four years ago about being a mommy turned foodie--  how I’d spent years at home raising my kids and throwing myself into making food (really good food) for my family. My friends and family encouraged me to enter contests, send recipes to magazines, public TV shows, and put my name out for private clients.  I listened to their advice and saw great results! I have been published in Everyday Food, many KCTS cookbooks, and I have served food to hundreds of people. It has been such an exciting journey. I’ve read books like “Molecular Gastronomy” by Herve’ This  and “On Food and Cooking the Science and Lore of the Kitchen” by Harold McGee. Epic reads!
While on my travels I have been working a “real” job at Starbucks. I’ve had the very unique opportunity to work not only as a barista, but also as a peer coach alongside the Lean Team at the corporate offices. Like most new experiences, I have been a fish out of water AND a champion on the podium, feeling completely inept and like a pro all at the same time.  I’ve met executives and with teams of baristas, and given presentations to company leadership. Through each of these adventures, I have learned poise, speaking with confidence, and holding myself to a much higher standard. I’ve fallen straight on my face, been challenged to get up, hold my head high and be “put on notice” that I would challenged again! I’ve learned my strengths and weaknesses, and I’ve developed relationships that will last me a lifetime.
These two career paths have been such a joy to me. They have provided me with a unique look at food service, retail trends, work on a minute level, food knowledge, customer service, problem solving, and how to be my own advocate.
Which brings us to today.
I’ve been working with a wonderfully talented gal, Angie. She is an artist and has an eye for detail. We want to take our hobby and make it a passion creating something new and unique in the food industry. This blog is a start to our road to culinary “Edan”.  I hope that it will be entertaining, filled with food knowledge, recipes, and photos.
Stick around and see where we go, what we cook and bake-- our disasters and triumphs!
